Randi knew she wanted/loved lots of color and wanted it to feel seasonal, but had a deep aversion to the more common colorful fall wedding “jewel tones” with purples and emerald greens. Brad loves blue thistles or “sea hollies” so I knew a pop of blue would be an accent color to counter all the warm and russet/beige tones and add to the fun.
Randi initially tried to convince her bridesmaids to wear a bright canary yellow dress and the majority rule rejected this bold idea so I decided to tie in her happy yellow dreams with an osage orange heartwood dye bath for the sunniest silk ribbons!
Our own dahlias, zinnias, and cosmos with organic California-grown garden roses combined for a joyous celebration of the transition to winter. I let the changing landscape of foliage dictate the overall color theme and foraged lots of beech and crepe myrtle branches which were putting on their best colors the exact week of this wedding (a little later than normal luckily!) for a bold and vibrant show of fall color that is almost as happy as their smiles in the photos.
